This series consists of a bound volume which documents some of the official activities of the Road Commission. Information presented in this volume includes: (1) names of road hands; (2) name of road to which employees were assigned to work; (3) name of overseer; (4) number of Georgia Militia Districts in which roads were located; (5) names of road defaulters and the amount of their fine (rarely listed), and (6) date.

This series contains unbound writs of fieri facias (fi fas) or tax executions. These records show the person in tax arrears, the amount of money owed and the date. They were usually signed by a justice of the peace or the tax collector. These records were found in the sheriff's office of the courthouse since one of the sheriff's duties at the time was to serve the fi fa upon the tax defaulter so named on the record.

This series consists of a bound volume which documents the criminal complaints filed in the court for the inclusive dates listed. Information presented in this volume includes: (1) the name of the defendant; (2) the type of complaint charged; (3) the disposition of the case, and (4) an enumeration of court costs. Complaints charged against defendants include those of adultery, drunk and disorderly conduct and burglary.

This series consists of a bound volume which documents the civil complaints filed in the court for the inclusive date listed. Information presented in this volume includes: (1) date and term of court; (2) names of attorneys involved; (3) names of litigants; (4) type of charge complained of, and (5) judgment rendered. Some of the complaints filed include those of suits on promissory notes, real estate profits and assumpsits.

The book is composed of dated chemistry lectures (numbered 9-44) on various subjects. Pages 1-17 (and lectures 1-8) of this probable copybook are missing. The last eight pages are filled with copied verses from such poets as Byron.

The minute book begins with the reorganization of the Board until long after property was sold to the state. It appears that they were managing the second building, which had been used as a masonic lodge as well as a primary school.

This collection includes genealogy, correspondence, business papers, estate records, and photographs of the family. Much of the correspondence is to daughter Sallie W. Cheshire from aspiring but unsuccessful suitors. A large number of photographs are of the Cheshire/Mayson/Todd families.

Contains incoming letters from Gilson and Orr cousins in Alabama and Mississippi and from Christopher's sister and brother-in-law, Martha E. Orr (b. 1828) and Andrew J. Stallings, newly-weds in Walton County, Georgia. Christopher Orr's Newnan Seminary (Coweta County, Georgia) speeches and records are included. One letter is from Sarah E. Strickland in Rose Bower, Georgia, to an unknown Jane. The last item is an unsigned, typed biography of Orr.

Records of a project carried out by various chapters of the Daughter of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) in which they surveyed Georgia county churches to see what records might be available for microfilming. Also includes carbons of Georgia Archives' follow-up correspondence with churches. Counties include Bibb, Butts, Clarke, Clay, Columbia, Emanuel, Fulton, Jenkins, Muscogee, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Richmond, Turner, and Twiggs.

Collections consists of correspondence (both incoming and carbon copies of outgoing), memorandums, circulars, news releases, newspaper clippings, brochures, programs, invitations, conference agendas, invoices, biographical sketches, and outlines of proposed programs

These consist of copies of original letters, diaries and reminiscences which are on file in the department. When the department had a separate Civil War Records Section, the original collections were located in that section. When the Civil War Records Section was abolished, the originals were deposited with the curator of the Manuscripts Division of the department, and these copies were placed with the Civil War Miscellany materials.

These consist of lists of men in some Georgia battalions/regiments. There are some for out-of-state units. Brief summaries of the activities of the men in these units and/or the activities of the units may be included.

These consist of copies and/or typescripts of letters, diaries and reminiscences written by the soldiers and/or their families. These have been donated to the department by private individuals.

This series consists of information on various subjects relating to the Civil War period. Some were donated by individuals, others were copied by the staff from periodicals and Civil War publications and state materials.

The scrapbook was apparently the winner in a history contest for freshmen and sophomores at Teachers College in Athens, Georgia. It was found in the papers of Moina Michael, who is featured in the scrapbook.
